Years at Holy Trinity: This is my first year at Holy Trinity and I am already so appreciative of the blessing!
Education: I have a bachelors degree in music education from Baker University, where piano was my primary focus. I am currently pursuing a Master's degree in Vocal Music Education from Kansas State University.
Work Experience: My previous work was an accompanist and choral assistant at Eudora Middle and High Schools, where I worked for two years. Prior to going back to finishing my degree in music education, I was a preschool teacher for several years.
Teaching Philosophy: Scripture instructs us to "make a joyful noise" and "sing a new song" unto the Lord. Music is an instruction from God and part of the fabric of our humanity, a universal constant. My job as an instructor of music is to help develop students into independent musicians who can make artistic and expressive decisions for themselves, functioning musicians who can read music and sight-read in the clef of their choice, and faithful musicians, who pay dividends into the talents given to them by the Lord and use their gifts to glorify Him.
Passions/interests: I love to cook (but would prefer not to bake), I love to read novels and murder mysteries and science fiction. In my free time, I play acoustic music with a trio.
Favorite Scripture: John 16:33. "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." What a blessing to know that the war is already won; the trials of this life are momentary, and as we walk in faith, we have a companion and champion in the saints and angels, our Mother, and the Lord Jesus.
